We are planning a whirlwind trip around Europe and in the final planning stages. I’ve put together the top things to do in Cologne, Germany to keep our friends organized. Based on my research, Cologne is most famous for: We plan to explore the Altstadt, Cologne’s Old Town area. Altstadt is filled with cobblestone alleyways with restaurants, boutiques, galleries, and cafes. Another option is to take a stroll or cruise on the Rhine River and take in all the architecture. When we embarked on the long journey from the midwest to SE Asia, our flight plans included an 11 hour layover in Frankfurt, Germany. This was perfect timing, as it allowed us to explore the Christmas markets! We arrived in Frankfurt 9:35 AM (11hr/20min connection) and our flight to Bangkok didn’t leave until 8:55 PM that night. Upon arriving in Frankfurt we were able to visit the Lufthansa lounge to change and freshen up.
